MĀHINGA WHĀNAU | FOR THE FAMILY
Broadgreen Historic House offers a variety of family and school holiday activities
Broadgreen House caters to adults and children alike, with plenty to do for the whole family. There’s always something to do or see - here are some of the programmes, events and activities.
Looking for something to do in the school holidays? Check out our popular children’s textile workshops teaching traditional crafts and sewing to children ages 5 -12. One or two workshops run each school holidays. Be sure to get in quick, as they fill up fast. Sign up to our Textile Kids mailing list to be notified first about these workshops.
Exhibitions & events
Visit our latest exhibition, 'Langbein Time', to learn the history and stories of three generations of this well-known local family, the owners and caretakers of our beloved Broadgreen House for over six decades. For fashion history and textile fans, enjoy the specially selected costumes from our costume collection, representing the different activities and decades of the Langbein era, 1901 - 1965.
The Box Room
Head upstairs at Broadgreen Historic House to find The Box Room, an interactive activities space for children (and adults!) to dress up in old fashioned clothes, play, and learn about New Zealand history in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
Bags of Fun
When you visit with the kids, be sure to grab your Broadgreen House Bag of Fun, filled with activities and games for the whole family to complete onsite, in the house, and others to take home.
Each year Whakatū Nelson has a series of events to share unique stores of people and place. Find out more on the Tuku Whakatū website.
